In 1944, we were Big Ten champions and we thought we were national champions, but Army, because of the war, was voted number one. I think we were the civilian champs.

Buckeye Grove Facts
Start Year: 1934
Location: Southwest Corner of the Stadium

There have been 125 players at Ohio State to win first-team All-American honors. From Boyd Cherry in 1914 to A.J. Hawk in 2005, each of them is honored with a Buckeye tree and a plaque in an area known as "Buckeye Grove".

Originally located east of Ohio Stadium, the grove was moved near the southwest corner as part of the 2001 renovation. The first trees were planted in 1934. Additions are usually made in a ceremony prior to the annual spring game.
