Always a tricky place to play, Camp Randall Stadium
on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison
was the venue for week eight. Sophomore place kicker
Mike Nugent got a kick out of converting his 16th consecutive
field goal attempt, a new Ohio State record.
Trailing 14 to 13 in the fourth quarter, though, the
Buckeyes had 88 yards to go for the winning score. Facing
third and six from their own 16, Krenzel threaded the
needle between two Badger defenders to junior wide receiver
Michael Jenkins for a huge 45-yard gain. That was the
catalyst for Krenzel's short touchdown toss to junior
tight end Ben Hartsock and a 19-14 Buckeye lead.
For the second time in five weeks, Gamble intercepted
a pass in his own end zone to thwart an opponent's drive.
The five-point lead proved to be the winning margin,
and OSU had its third straight win in Madison.
