Homecoming provided a relaxing atmosphere with a beautiful,
sunny mid-October day in the Horseshoe. OSU did its
part with a 50-7 win over San Jose State, the second
time that season that the Bucks topped the 50-point
plateau, and the fourth time Ohio State had scored 45
or more. Krenzel was the star of this game, completing
12 of 14 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns.
Following the game, those who remained in Ohio Stadium,
and in the Buckeye locker-room, would be closely following
the Miami-Florida State game. The top-ranked Hurricanes
were in danger of losing, but at least one player was
glad to see Miami survive.
"I was rooting for the 'Canes,'' senior safety
Mike Doss told The Columbus Dispatch following the game.
"They're the champions, and you want to play against
the best in the championship game. If they keep winning
and we keep winning, hopefully we can play each other.''
